The four of us went to Kazuko-san’s home yesterday for the Fukuoka cooking class. We have been to a Japanese cooking class in Tokyo, but this one was far more exciting.
To compare, we had the class in her home instead of a studio, there was more variety of food/cooking both sushi and tempura (in Tokyo, only sushi was offered), the special dish was an Okinawa delicious noodle stir fry, and there was a little tea ceremony with dessert.
The food was plentiful and fresh. The atmosphere was lovely. Overall a wonderful experience!

This is a must for anyone who enjoys eating Japanese food, and would like to be able to make a few dishes ‘back home’. Also ideal for those who want to experience genuine Japanese hospitality and friendliness! If the instructor I worked alongside (Atsuko) is typical of the small group of women who have opened up their homes and their hearts to travellers, then you’ll certainly enjoy your time…and learn a lot too! Communication prior was friendly and prompt, and instructions to the meeting point were perfect. Atsuko catered for food allergies easily, and the course went ahead even though I was the only one that day.
Thoroughly recommend this activity if you get to Fukuoka!
